Energy booster tips for your day!
Ever wake up and want to go straight to bed? I know I do. Those days always seem the hardest until you finally get home and lay down with some popcorn and a good movie. The struggle is more the next day when you realise that the lack of motivation and energy you had the day before is weighing down on your work and you’re running behind. Or worse, you have to redo all the work you did yesterday because it wasn’t half as good as it usually is and your boss is going to throw a fit! As a current addict of those days, I came up with a few tips on how to get over the plateau of energy and reach your maximum on a daily basis!
When you wake up, make sure you wash (or splash, whatever floats your boat) your face with cold water. This should wake you up instantly. After, make sure you drink a glass of water to get the blood flowing through your body. Also, make sure you eat a good breakfast before heading to work because this will give you energy for the next two or three hours so you can get to answer emails, phone calls, and other important things. When you feel like the energy is starting to hit a new low, get up and walk around a little bit. Better yet, open the window and breathe in fresh air. If you work or live in an environment where opening the window is not a solution, walk outside for a five minute break. The fresh air, the colder, the better, will wake you up instantly, as your body will need the energy to keep you warm and on your feet. This boost will certainly give you energy and therefore keep you motivated throughout the day. Regular “fresh air breaks” are critical, especially if you work in a closed environment.
Another good tip that comes in handy is to make a list of all the things you need to accomplish that day and a reward at the end when you accomplish everything on the list. Ensure that you have someone check you so you don’t cheat and say you completed the list, when you didn’t. Have an assistant, co-worker, or family member check your task list. Your reward can be as simple as a snack, a movie, or a massage from your significant other. Make it something to look forward to so you are motivated to finish the list.
Most importantly, wake up every day thinking that you will have a good day. I know it may sound cheesy, but it’s vital to tell yourself that to believe it. If you wake up thinking that you are tired and drained from all possible energy, well guess what? You will have a dull and energy draining day. Keep positive and maintain the task list completed!
